Tottenham bring in man that Szczesny said he learnt more from in four months, than he did in 10 years at Arsenal

Tottenham have announced the arrival of Marco Savorani as goalkeeper coach – a player Wojciech Szczesny raved about back in 2016 at Roma.

Savorani, 56, is the latest addition to Antonio Conte’s big coaching staff. He has worked twice with the new Spurs gaffer before, but a decade ago.

Indeed, Savorani initially encountered Conte at Atalanta in 2009, but only for a short spell. He was then brought to Siena in 2010 by Conte.

While Savorani lasted four years, Conte only stayed at Siena for a season before nabbing the Juventus job. Savorani has since been at Roma.

Joining Roma in 2014 as an Under-19 coach, he was promoted to the position of senior goalkeeping coach in 2016. But he left in the summer.

Spurs have pounced, landing Savorani. Back in 2016, Szczesny said he learned more under Savorani in four months – than 10 years at Arsenal.

“I learned more in four months at Roma than in 10 years at Arsenal,” Szczesny told Il Tempo, as per the Evening Standard in 2016.

Szczesny on Savorani: Tottenham have pulled off a coup

Savorani has a brilliant record. At Roma, he masterminded the development and rise of now-Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

Not only is he one of the best goalkeeping coaches in Europe, but he knows how to do it with the best. Hugo Lloris is certainly one of the best.

Somewhat underrated, the 2018 France World Cup winner remains one of the first names on Conte’s team sheet. Savorani will improve Lloris.

He will get the best out of the ex-Lyon gaffer. Bringing in Savorani is a real coup, and another reason why Tottenham fans should be positive.
