Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has defended his player Davinson Sanchez when asked about mistakes made by him last weekend.
Sanchez has played every minute of the opening three Premier League games so far and is getting his opportunity to shine in the starting XI.
The Colombian defender came in for some criticism after the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United last weekend.
Newcastle striker Joelinton found space for his goal when he drifted in-between Sanchez and Danny Rose.
Pochettino explained that he didn’t see mistakes from Sanchez last week when asked in his pre-match press conference ahead of the North London derby and is pleased with the centre-back.
“In that case [against Newcastle] Davinson didn’t make a mistake. If I need to judge Davinson I am happy with him, his commitment and performance and of course like all the players in our team needs to improve to be more consistent,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Football.London.

TBR’s View:
Sanchez should receive a boost from Pochettino’s comments about him and the manager clearly has a lot of faith in him.
The 23-year-old is a quality centre-back that has had some great moments already at Spurs, but unfortunately he doesn’t bring the same confidence as Jan Vertonghen at the back and his omission at the start of the campaign is odd.
With a trip away to Arsenal on Sunday just around the corner, it could be wise for Spurs to revert to a three-man defence of Sanchez, Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
