Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho, has piled the praise on midfielder Tanguy Ndombele ahead of the new campaign, admitting the Frenchman looks ‘better than ever’.
Mourinho was speaking yesterday ahead of his Spurs side’s season opener with Everton this weekend. The Portuguese boss has brought in a number of new faces this summer, some of whom may start on Sunday.

However, when pressed on the future of Ndomble, Mourinho issued a somewhat surprising response and appeared to open the door for the club’s record signing to make a big impression this season. (quotes via FourFourTwo)
“He’s working very hard. I have to be honest and say he is working better than ever. Of course he finished the season injured with a very important injury. He came back after holidays and of course he was still injured, in spite of doing some work on the recovery process.
“This week he did not go to the national team and trained every day. Is his condition better today than it was last week? Yes his condition is better. And he is working very, very hard. So the point now is – can he keep that commitment and desire? If he does it, he has incredible potential.”
Ndombele has struggled since arriving in north London but the club are apparently reluctant to sell him. Daniel Levy is keen to see a return on his investment it seems, which means Mourinho is tasked with getting the best from his man.

And that’s how Spurs fans will be looking at it, if Ndombele can get himself fit and firing going into the new season.

There is definitely a player in there. He started off pretty well with the club, in fairness to him. From then, he just seemed to lose his way a bit and now needs coaching backing into the picture.
If there’s one man who can get the best from Ndombele, then you’d bet all you had on it being Jose Mourinho.
