Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte was asked about his immediate reaction to Chelsea sacking Thomas Tuchel yesterday.

The two managers are among the best in Europe. They’ve won numerous trophies in their careers, but football is a business now, and if you don’t get results, you’re gone. That, sadly, is what happened to the German on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte reacts to Chelsea sacking Thomas Tuchel

Just last month, Conte and Tuchel were involved in a huge bust-up at Stamford Bridge.

After a few heated exchanges during the game, the two managers went to shake hands at full time. Tuchel was furious that Conte didn’t look him in the eye, and that almost caused a huge brawl.

Fast forward three weeks, Chelsea’s new owners decided that they didn’t want Tuchel anymore. The German was shown the door yesterday, and journalists, unsurprisingly, were really keen to get Conte’s reaction to the news.

After Spurs picked up a 2-0 win over Marseille last night, the Italian was asked about Tuchel.

He said, as per Football London: “Honestly, I don’t want to be disrespectful.

“I think when another club takes a decision, I think it is right to don’t take comment because you don’t know what happened.”

Spurs should extend Conte’s contract

Daniel Levy is no stranger to sacking managers, but the Tottenham chairman finally seems to have found the perfect man for his club.

Conte really has taken Spurs to a whole new level since his arrival last year. He is among the best managers in world football, and every big club’s eyes will be on him now considering that his contract with Tottenham expires at the end of this season.

Spurs simply have to get that sorted in the coming months. If they lose Conte, they probably won’t find a manager of his level ever again, which would be a huge blow for them.

It will be interesting to see what Levy will do, but the sooner he gets this done, the better it is for everyone at the club.
