Tottenham big admirers of Youssoufa Moukoko - journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both big admirers of Youssoufa Moukoko despite Chelsea leading the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund star.

Moukoko is one of the most highly sought-after prospects playing in Europe right now. The 18-year-old has scored six goals and contributed six assists in all competitions for Dortmund this season.

He is not yet the finished article. But as well as his talent, there is one important reason why many of the Premier League heavyweights are monitoring Moukoko.

The teenager is out of contract at the end of the season. And thus, teams outside of Germany can begin to discuss pre-contract deals with him from next month.

Reports from 90min recently reported that Spurs had scouts watching Moukoko in action for Dortmund.

And it seems that they are right in the mix for a potential deal.

‘Multiple Premier League clubs are prepared’

Jacobs has provided a comprehensive thread on Moukoko’s future. And he initially suggested that Chelsea are on pole position for his signature following the serious injury sustained by Armando Broja.

He went on to add that both Liverpool and Tottenham are big fans of the forward…

Clearly, whoever manages to secure Moukoko’s signature is netting themselves one of the most exciting prospects around.

He is a player Erling Haaland described as ‘amazing‘. That is certainly saying something given what he has gone on to achieve in his career. FBRef meanwhile, lists Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Lautaro Martinez and Robert Lewandowski as similar players.

Tottenham do not face an easy challenge trying to win the race. Not only do many top sides want Moukoko, but they are also going to struggle to be able to offer him regular game-time.

He is a striker. And with that, convincing him to join when they already have Harry Kane and Richarlison in the ranks will be a really tough task for Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte.
