Tottenham beginning to have genuine options in midfield

Many Tottenham fans were concerned in the summer when the club failed to sign a single player and there were question marks over the amount of options in the midfield area.

Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama are the two senior central midfield that are injury prone, while Eric Dier is a versatile ace that often divides option.

Spurs flop Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks are also alternative options in the squad, who have managed to step up massively this season.

Midfielder Winks was drafted back into the starting XI on Wednesday night to help his side secure a vital 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League group stages.

The 22-year-old was extremely efficient in the centre of the park with his range of passing and has to be pushing for more regular starts.

Meanwhile, in-form powerhouse Sissoko continued to impress with his energy and Dier entered the action late on.

Dembele and Wanyama are currently sidelined through injury, but there now appears to be real strength in depth.

With five senior options now at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal, it seems like Spurs have a new-found strength in the midfield and that can only be a real bonus in their hunt for silverware.
