Tottenham: Bayer Leverkusen star linked ahead of January window

Away from the big match action, more whispers have emerged regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s planned transfer business this January, and according to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur may well be looking to strengthen themselves by pursuing a familiar adversary this season, in the shape of Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt.

The Bundesliga outfit faced Pochettino’s side twice during Spurs’ ill-fated Champions League group campaign, and winger Brandt was one who particularly impressed. The 20 year-old, capped four times by Germany, has been in consistently impressive form at the Bay Arena this season and his displays have gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite, with the Star report quoting the Daily Mail, claiming that several scouts were in attendance to watch the youngster in action in Leverkusen’s draw with Cologne last week.

Spurs would be in for a race to tempt the youngster to White Hart Lane however, since the North Londoners are thought to be one of four Premier League clubs interested in acquiring his services, with Manchester United, Everton and rivals Arsenal the other clubs in the reckoning.
