Last summer Tottenham tried to pull out the stops to land Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish for £25 million, according to The Telegraph.
The Villans stood firm, Spurs didn’t get their man and Grealish has torn the Championship to pieces this season.
His return to the side from injury has seen Villa go on a run of seven successive wins and has given them genuine hope of promotion through the play-0ffs.

This summer needs to be different for Spurs.
It was reported last week in the Evening Standard that Mauricio Pochettino will offload a dozen players in the transfer window.
That will leave the boss will plenty of room for manoeuvre within his squad.
Grealish’s stock has risen in 12 months and so will the price to sign him.
The Times reported in September that the 23-year-old has a £45 million buyout clause in his £45k-a-week contract.
Given that Spurs are offloading 12 players who will command fees and given the inflation in today’s market, that doesn’t sound a bad price.
Grealish has shown in the last two months that he can become a top Premier League player.

Five goals and five assists hardly gives the impression of a world-beater, but his overall work-rate in the Villa team of late has caught the eye.
It’s time for Spurs to stand tall in the summer. Two windows without a player arriving at the club indicates the need to make a statement next time.
Pochettino can not let Grealish slip through the net once again.
