Juventus midfielder, Weston McKennie, is being watched by a number of Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Tottenham’s interest in McKennie is well document as they were once again linked over the weekend. However, the likes of Arsenal, Leeds and Newcastle are all thought to be in the mix as well.

That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs anyway, who took to Twitter today to give his thoughts on the situation surrounding McKennie at the moment. In a thread all about the USA international, Jacobs touched on Spurs and Fabio Paratici’s interest but also added in that the likes of Leeds and Arsenal are watching on as well.
Compared by Alexei Lalas to N’Golo Kante with a mix of Gattuso and Vidal thrown in there as well, Lalas also commented on McKennie’s ‘excellent‘ skills with the ball. A regular for Juventus, it was claimed in the summer that Tottenham were indeed looking to pay around £25m for his services.
McKennie has featured 14 times for Juventus this season, scoring twice in all competitions. Capable of playing across the entirety of the central midfield positions, it’s easy to see why McKennie is in demand heading into January.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Could Do With McKennie Most
The lack of bite in midfield without Hojbjerg this weekend, plus the comments from Antonio Conte about needing even more squad depth mean that Weston McKennie would be most welcome at Spurs.
However, those other clubs in the mix do present a problem. Arsenal are flying high, Leeds are run by a fellow American in Jesse Marsch, and Newcastle have money to spend and a project to follow.
If McKennie does come to England in January, then it seems like he has the pick of a number of clubs. Spurs, though, could do with putting themselves at the head of the queue.
