Tottenham Hotspur have already added one new midfield player this summer, and they could be set to sign another.

Indeed, after 18 months’ worth of links, Spurs are still keen on Conor Gallagher, and this summer could finally see this move come to fruition.

Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Gallagher’s future at Chelsea, and he says that Tottenham are the last team standing in the race to sign the England international and they’re likely to make a bid.

Tottenham likely to bid for Conor Gallagher

Jacobs spoke about Gallagher’s situation and Spurs’ interest.

“I think Villa can’t afford Gallagher at the moment even though they made an exploratory approach. Atletico Madrid made an informal offer of about €20m, which is way below Chelsea’s valuation, so there’s nothing doing there.

“That really only leaves Spurs at the moment, and even with Archie Gray joining Tottenham they’ll still be in the mix for Conor Gallagher. Their valuation is the same as it was 12 months ago, somewhere around £35m, whereas Chelsea are saying Gallagher should go for a similar price to Mason Mount, a £55m package.

“We wait and see if something gives. £40-45m might do it, but Chelsea are bullish at the moment.”

“Right now the situation is as it has been for months. Nothing advanced with a new Gallagher deal, Chelsea want £50-55m, Tottenham are likely to bid.”

Tottenham move ideal for Gallagher

Gallagher would seemingly like yo stay at Chelsea, but if he is forced out by the Blues, a move to Spurs makes tons of sense.

His style of play perfectly suits Ange Postecoglou’s tactical outlook, while a move to Spurs would also allow him to stay in London, which, according to Dean Jones’ recent update on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, is quite important as Gallagher wants to stay close to his family.

A move to Spurs would be wise for Gallagher, and it will be interesting to see how this one develops.
