Tottenham Hotspur have already made one signing this summer, and their next addition could be a replacement for one of their current players.
Indeed, Emerson Royal could be on his way out of Spurs before too long as the Brazilian continues to be linked with a move to AC Milan.
The defender looks likely to head to San Siro, and if he goes, Tottenham will need to replace him.
Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has been discussing Tottenham’s plans for if Emerson leaves, and he says that Tottenham are already scouring the market for right-backs in case the £26m man does go.
Tottenham already looking at Emerson Royal replacements
Sheth shared what he knows about Spurs’ contingency plans for if Emerson Royal leaves.
“I was asking about full-backs and it could depend on Emerson Royal and what happens with him. If Emerson Royal was to leave I think Spurs would go into the market for a full-back,” Sheth said/
“That isn’t to say that they’re not doing their due diligence already, that recruitment team will be doing due diligence on every single position/”
“When it comes to one in one out, you’re looking at Emerson Royal and that would be key about whether Tottenham go back into the market.
“I know there’s talk about Kyle Walker-Peters potentially making a return, but first things first they want to see if the Emerson Royal departure comes to fruition or not.”

Tottenham might already have Emerson’s replacement
Tottenham are scouring the market for new right-backs, but perhaps they’ve already signed the player who can replace Emerson Royal in the squad.
Indeed, Archie Gray spent most of this season playing as a right-back for Leeds, and while he’s primarily a midfield player, surely his versatility and place in the pecking order means he can double-up an act as Spurs’ backup right-back.
Pedro Porro will start in this position most of the time next season, and Gray is a more than capable understudy for if the Spaniard is ever injured or suspended.
Perhaps Spurs don’t actually need to sign a new right-back this summer.
