Tottenham are reportedly ready to up Lo Celso and Ndombele bids after knockbacks

Tottenham have been knocked back by midfield duo Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele but are ready to back manager Mauricio Pochettino in the transfer market.

According to the Daily Mirror, the pair are in Spurs’ sights as they seek to give their Argentine manager the resources he needs to go one better than Saturday’s Champions League final failure.

It’s about time Daniel Levy actually backed his man in the transfer market, getting top players at top dollar rather than waiting for value to emerge in the market and trying to pick up a bargain.

And Maxi Gomez and Ryan Sessegnon are also named in the report as players of interest to give Pochettino a squad with far greater depth and quality than the one that came up short against Liverpool in Madrid.

Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks had to man the deep midfield areas against Liverpool – and for much of the season – but Tottenham lack variety and genuine clout in those positions.

Inserting two elite midfielders, who can both improve further, into the heart of the side could push Tottenham onto that next level.

It would give them the depth to compete on more fronts and offer tactical flexibility to deal with different systems as opposed to just selecting whoever is fit.
