Tottenham have enquired about a summer move for Youcef Atal of Ligue 1 outfit Nice, according to the Daily Telegraph.
They report that there are a host of clubs interested in the versatile defender, but Tottenham are keen to muscle in ahead of them all.
Atal is a right-back first and foremost – so may be able to replace Kieran Trippier, who has had a poor season – but can also play in midfield.
And he scored a hat-trick for Nice during last Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Guingamp from a wide midfield position, showcasing the quality that apparently means he is valued at a figure of at least £34m this summer.

Even if Trippier doesn’t leave Spurs this summer, the club need an upgrade on Serge Aurier, who has never been convincing at all.
The move could be bad news for Kyle Walker-Peters, who has seemingly slipped behind even centre half Juan Foyth in the right back pecking order and would likely be hit hard by the arrival of a big-money upgrade.
At just 22, Atal still has plenty of time to improve and his versatility could well be important for a Spurs squad who have to press players into various positions because of the thinness of their squad often.
