Tottenham Hotspur are still tracking Tammy Abraham of Chelsea, Duncan Castles has said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

Spurs keen

Tottenham have been tentatively linked with Abraham throughout the transfer window, and it seems that they are still pushing to sign him.

Abraham, who Calcio Mercato have claimed wants to join Arsenal this week, remains an option for Spurs, as they consider their forward options.

Tottenham have been linked with Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic recently.

But it seems that Abraham is very much in contention to join Spurs too, especially if Harry Kane leaves.

Castles suggests that Tottenham may actually be best placed to land Abraham if Kane goes, as they would have more money than both Arsenal and Roma to spend on the forward.

“Abraham is on the market and it doesn’t surprise me that Tottenham are looking at him,” Castles said.

“They have competition from Roma, Mourinho would like to bring Tammy Abraham to the club, he has talked to Abraham directly and my guidance was that Abraham said he is interested in Roma’s proposal but he would like some more time to think about it.

Advantage Tottenham?

“The problem for Roma is that they want to that deal as a loan with an option to buy, they don’t want to commit to the kind of transfer Chelsea are looking for, which is £35 million.

“If Kane leaves, as you expect him to leave, then they would have the advantage over Roma and Arsenal – as they would have the money to put down that Chelsea want for Abraham.”

Tottenham, of course, will be battling to keep Kane – but that is becoming increasingly difficult after his delayed return to training.

If Abraham did sign he would at least arrive at Tottenham as a proven Premier League scorer.

And although he doesn’t posses the same class as Kane, if he was backed up with another striker signing, he could still be a useful option for Tottenham next term.
