According to a recent report, Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to land a highly-rated player on the continent this summer.
The North Londoners have already added Timo Werner and Archie Gray to their ranks but the focus has now quickly shifted on to other targets.
With Europa League football on the horizon, Ange Postecoglou will recognise that he needs a far more bolstered squad to deal with the congested fixture list.
With that said, Tottenham are making great progress on the potential signing of a Real Madrid target.

Tottenham lead race for Joan Garcia
According to ElDesmarque, Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
The North Londoners are thought to be ahead of Real Madrid and North London rivals Arsenal as they’ve already made approaches to sign the ‘promising’ shot-stopper, as quoted by Arsenal Insider.
The 23-year-old has a £21m release clause in his contract and the La Liga outfit will only sanction his sale if it’s met.
Any forthcoming deal would see Garcia join as competition for the number-one spot rather than as a backup for Guglielmo Vicario.
Tottenham’s priority is a forward
Whilst Spurs are clearly keen on Garcia, the priority signing remains an attacker.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who say a versatile forward remains top of their wishlist with Jonathan David, Pedro Neto and Lois Openda all players being considered.
With that said, it seems unlikely a deal for Garcia will go through before an attacker is signed, so there is expected to be movement over the next week on deals for one of the aforementioned trio.
