Tottenham are interested in signing £25m midfielder from Man City

Tottenham Hotspur need to do a lot of work in this summer transfer window.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou is likely to be sacked by Spurs at the end of the season, and after a truly terrible campaign, Spurs do need to bring in some reinforcements.

One of Tottenham’s main problem positions this season has been their midfield.

Yves Bissouma has been heavily criticised this term, and Tottenham need to revamp their midfield.

Adam Wharton is a Tottenham target, while Spurs are keen on Angel Gomes too.

However, according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, Spurs are also keen on Mateo Kovacic from Manchester City.

Tottenham keen on Mateo Kovacic

According to Kay, Tottenham are looking at signing Mateo Kovacic from Manchester City.

Spurs were linked with Kovacic years ago, and now, they’re having another look at the Croatian.

However, according to the journalist, City aren’t too keen on letting the £25m man go.

“They are big wages at City, Walker is gone, Kovacic, I’ve been hearing Spurs are looking at Kovacic, so they’re going to be revamping their midfield. That’s more Spurs enquiring than City wanting to let him go, but we will have to see what happens with that,” Kay said.

Mateo Kovacic could join exclusive club if he signs for Tottenham

Tottenham are keen on Kovacic, and it’s not surprising to hear that they do like the Man City star.

Indeed, over the years, Kovacic has been a real thorn in Spurs’ side, as the stats show.

For one reason or another, Kovacic does seem to save some of his best performances for Tottenham, hence his incredible winning record against Spurs.

If Kovacic were to join Spurs, he’d also be joining an exclusive Premier League club.

Indeed, Kovacic would be one of just a handful of players who have played for three or more of the traditional ‘big six’.

Kovacic has tasted success and silverware pretty much everywhere he’s been, and, who knows? Perhaps this is the sort of signing Spurs need to make if they want to end their lengthy trophy drought as Kovacic is a proven winner at the top level.
