Tottenham have confirmed that young defender, Jubril Okedina, has signed a new contract with the club before heading out on loan to Cambridge United.
Okedina has put pen to paper on fresh terms to see him contracted with Spurs until 2022, with the defender now set to spend the rest of the season out on loan in League Two.
The 20-year-old is said to be highly thought of in north London but with the team flying under Jose Mourinho, there is little to no chance of the Okedina making the grade in the coming months.
A move to Cambridge could well be ideal for the youngster. Regular playing time is perfect for young players and Jose Mourinho will be keeping a watchful eye on his progress.
Fellow youngster, Oliver Skipp, is currently enjoying a fine spell with Norwich City at the moment. Spurs, then, will hope for more of the same from Okedina in Cambridge.
Excellent chance to develop and impress for Okedina – TBR View
It’s a big boost for the youngster that he’s been given a new deal and he’ll be looking to prove that Spurs have done the right thing by putting in some good performances for Cambridge.
It’s a chance to get some game time under his belt and show what he can do and, as we mentioned with Skipp, a chance to really prove a point and showcase his talents.
Okedina will look to seize his chance in League Two and come back fighting in the summer.
