Goal reported last week that Andre Onana is open to the idea of joining Chelsea. During a week where some horrible goalkeeping saw Tottenham knocked out of the Champions League, Tottenham must prepare to pounce.
Jose Mourinho is actually a big fan of the Cameroonian stopper it would seem too, stemming back to the Europa League Final of 2017.
Manchester United, led by the current Tottenham boss, defeated Ajax 2-0 thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Onana was in goal for the Dutch giants that day and he told Marca what Mourinho said to him after the game.
He said: “I was happy that a coach like him noticed me. It makes me happy and gives me more strength to keep fighting to achieve my goals. Before, yes, he followed me closely, but now I don’t know. You’d have to ask him. After the final, he told me that I had a great season and that I would continue like that and then asked me if I was going to play for Cameroon or Holland.”
Chelsea are now thought to be interested in completing the signing of the 23-year-old who is under contract with Ajax until 2022.
Tottenham custodian Hugo Lloris hasn’t been at his best this season and at 33, the time could be now to look towards some younger blood.
Although Lloris is a World Cup-winning player, it would do him no harm to have some competition for his place.
Paulo Gazzaniga hasn’t really applied enough pressure and Onana could eventually be a long-term successor to Lloris.
Fancied
Mourinho clearly rated Onana and they quite simply must rival Chelsea for his signature during the summer.

The man with 15 caps for his country is agile, commands his box well and perhaps crucially these days, he is good with his feet.
Mourinho needs several reinforcements during the summer and a goalkeeper should be close to the top of his shopping list.
