Tottenham and Newcastle target Richarlison ready to leave Everton

Journalist Paul Brown has told Give Me Sport that Richarlison has been willing to leave Everton in the last two windows – in comments that may alert the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Richarlison has been something of a shining light in a difficult season for the Toffees. He has scored more goals than any other player at Goodison Park this season. Meanwhile, no Everton player has provided more assists than the Brazilian.

Obviously, it has been a torrid campaign for Everton. And it could still end with relegation out of the Premier League. So it is no surprise that Richarlison is now attracting attention.

Reports claimed that both Tottenham and Newcastle want the £40 million-rated forward ahead of the summer. Both clubs will be looking for further reinforcements up front.

And it seems that Everton will not be taken aback if Richarlison asks to leave in the coming weeks. Brown suggested that his departure has been on the cards for a little while.

“Richarlison, I’m pretty sure, has been willing to leave Everton for the last couple of windows,” he told Give Me Sport.

“He’s certainly ambitious; he’s been playing a lot for Brazil. And you can see that if he wants to nail down a starting spot as Brazil’s No.9, he’s going to have to be playing regularly for a team that’s more successful than Everton right now – I can understand that.”

Everton could be in big trouble if Richarlison leaves this summer

Obviously, Richarlison is likely to be one of the first to leave if Everton are relegated. But it seems highly likely that he will consider his future even if they stay up.

He is a ‘fantastic‘ striker with the ability to do amazing things. He does come in for criticism. But he has the potential to be a superb signing for almost any Premier League club.

And if he leaves, Everton may well find themselves in bother. Replacing him will not be easy. And they will lose one of their few remaining quality players.

It seems that the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle have received encouragement in their potential pursuits of Richarlison.
