TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Jose Mourinho is set to sacrifice Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer, which is likely to place Tottenham and Newcastle on red alert. Both Premier League sides are reportedly keen on signing.
Zaniolo, 22, joined the club in the summer of 2018 – and impressed in his first couple of seasons. In his first couple of years at Roma, Zaniolo clocked up 20 goal involvements in 69 games – despite his tender age.
But in 2020-21, he ruptured his cruciate ligament. He failed to play a single game and this season, he is slowlt returning to his best – but has only managed three goals and three assists in 22 league and cup outings.
TMW report that despite his potential, and that he has a contract until 2024, Mourinho is willing to sell him at the end of the season. CalcioMercato say Tottenham and Newcastle are keen, on the £34million-rated ace.

Tottenham and Newcastle boost: Zaniolo is an exciting signing
But what the midfielder needs, is game time to get back to his best – following his injury. Would he get that at Tottenham? He is not going to start above Son Heung-min, or Lucas Moura.
He could start in midfield, but the Italy international is hardly any different to that of Gio Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele or Dele Alli. At Newcastle, Zaniolo would be first choice every week. Newcastle must sign the Italian.
