Tottenham and Lyon are some way apart in their valuations of powerful midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to the Guardian.
They report that Mauricio Pochettino has told Daniel Levy that the French international is the exact type of player he wants to improve his Tottenham squad.
But finances could a problem – because Spurs reportedly only value him at 50 million euros (£44.5 million), but Lyon are holding out for 75 million euros (£66.6 million).
Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator, who is willing to wait until the closing stages of the transfer window if it means that he gets a better price – but Lyon supremo Jean-Michel Aulas is just as obstinate.

If Tottenham are to try and haggle the price down for a player, it’s usually conducive if there isn’t a bidding war going on for him, leaving the selling club without the option to go elsewhere for a higher price and a smoother negotiation.
But the report says that Lyon are well aware of interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus in Ndombele – meaning that Spurs could be forced to miss out if they don’t loosen the pursestrings.
It could well be a long negotiation if they don’t – and it would also help Pochettino if Ndombele was in the door by the time pre-season starts so he can get him bedded in.
