Report: Tottenham and Leeds both love 'incredible' £18m man and could now sign him for absolutely nothing
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United remain firmly in the mix to try and sign Wolves winger, Adama Traore, according to reports.
90Min has claimed that the Wolves winger is still a wanted man. Interest in Traore is long-standing, despite him once again struggling for any consistency in a Wolves shirt.
It’s reported that a number of big clubs in Europe would like to sign Traore. However, Tottenham’s interest is once again mentioned and it’s claimed by 90Min that Victor Orta at Leeds is a huge fan of the Spaniard.
Interestingly, despite once being valued at over £50m by Wolves, Traore is into the last six months of his contract. That means that Spurs or Leeds can land him for free, if they offer the right contract.
Dubbed as an ‘incredible’ player by none other than Pep Guardiola, Traore is seen as one of the Premier League’s mavericks. On his day, he is capable of being one of the best in the league. However, he finds those days hard to come by.
Tottenham, as we know, are keen to bring more new players in. A new right wing-back is thought to be high on Conte’s agenda. Traore, then, could well fit the bill.
TBR’s View: Traore to Tottenham boat might have passed
While there’s no doubt Antonio Conte might be able to get the best out of Adama Traore, the interest seems to have been around for so long that you feel the ship might have sailed.
Traore has undoubted ability. He is lightning quick and powerful when he gets running at defenders. However, the inconsistencies he brings to the table are a worry as well.
But, on a free transfer, Traore might well be a smart capture for Spurs. He’s certainly better than Emerson Royal, and that in itself is a bonus.
