Tottenham and Crystal Palace are among the clubs vying to sign Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards, who has been impressive this season under Darren Ferguson.
Edwards is seen as one of the best up and coming young players in the Championship. Despite Peterborough being on the verge of the drop, Edwards has built a reputation for himself as one of the best in the squad.

Indeed, manager Darren Ferguson labelled Edwards as an incredible talent earlier this season.
“It helps having Ronnie Edwards at the back. He’s an incredible talent, easily the best young player I’ve managed. He seemed to get everyone playing. It was a remarkable performance as he also coped defensively against two Premier League standard players in Troy Deeney and Tahith Chong. They will cause Championship teams many problems, but defensively we were excellent,” Ferguson said at the time.
And now the Daily Mail has claimed that both Tottenham and Palace could battle it out to sign Edwards this summer, with Peterborough looking for £15m for their man.
The Posh have a rich history of getting good money for their best players. Over the last ten years or so, they’ve made big sums on a number of players, including players like Britt Assombalonga.
TBR’s View: Edwards A Star Of The Future
Yes, the lower end of the Championship is a different kettle of fish to the Premier League but Ronnie Edwards looks like a standout player in the second tier and at 19, is only going to get better.
It’s no wonder Tottenham and Palace want him. £15m might be a big fee for someone with little experience but Ferguson’s comments above tell its own story. He is that good, and the Premier League beckons for Edwards eventually.
If Spurs do sign him, then expect Antonio Conte to get to work right away in improving the youngster further.
