Tottenham ace Reguilon names 'brilliant' Manchester City as toughest PL player, says he is 'too intelligent'

Sergio Reguilon has told Amazon Prime that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the Tottenham star’s toughest Premier League opponent.

De Bruyne, 30, is yet to reach his brilliant best this season – though he did score against Wales on Tuesday night. He has just three goals in 14 games.

But last season, he had a hand in 28 goals in his 40 games – scoring 10 and creating 18. In 2019-20, he scored 16 and created 23 in just 48 games.

Already a three-time Premier League winner, De Bruyne is a Premier League legend – even if he left City now. One of the best ever playmakers.

Asked about his toughest opponent in the Premier League, Reguilon answered by naming the three-goal Manchester City star.

“I think Kevin De Bruyne [is the toughest opponent in the Premier League],” Reguilon said. “Control, quality, too intelligent, brilliant player, top class.”

Reguilon on De Bruyne: Is Manchester City star best in the PL?

On his day, without a doubt. But right now, De Bruyne is some way below his best. Indeed, it it hard to argue with Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

Declan Rice, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk, Jorginho and more are up there. But right now, Salah is definitely the best in the league.

If Manchester City are to battle Liverpool and Chelsea for the Premier League title this season – then they need a player Reguilon describes.

They need De Bruyne firing on all cylinders. Whether he can regain that form in the coming weeks, remains to be seen.
