Dele Alli has raved about Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish and Wolverhampton Wanderers speedster Adama Traore in an interview with OTRO, with both players being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur of late.
Grealish, 24, almost joined Tottenham while the player was still in the Championship. He has since got Villa promoted, and has captained them during their first Premier League campaign since returning – having a hand in 17 goals.
Last month, The Sun claimed Tottenham could have signed the £80million-rated Grealish for just £6million in the summer of 2018. Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror have claimed Spurs players have urged Jose Mourinho to sign 24-year-old Traore.
Alli was asked by OTRO to name his top-four players outside of the top four in the Premier League, and he chose Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell – as well as Grealish and Traore.
“My number one is going to be [Adama] Traore,” Alli said, on Traore. “It’s very difficult when you have that much pace, but also just stopping, cutting in and changing direction is very difficult. He’s a real threat every time they are in attack.
“Number four, I’m going to go with Jack Grealish. I’d seen him play before in the Premier League, but not playing at the same time. But watching him, he’s a very good player and has got all my support.”
TBR’s view – Title challengers with Grealish and Traore?
Though Manchester United are leading the way for Grealish, Tottenham would suit his style of play – and given that Grealish did agree a move to Spurs in the summer of 2018, he would be a top signing for the north Londoners.
With Christian Eriksen leaving, a playmaker is needed and Grealish could be the man to replace the Dane. Spurs also need a spark, someone to create something against a side that are willing to sit behind the ball and Traore is that man.
The duo would turn Spurs into a massive threat, and would certainly take the north Londoners back into the top four.
