Tottenham academy forward with ‘huge future’ expected to be in first-team picture

Tottenham Hotspur have a big season ahead of them as they look to build on a decent maiden campaign under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs hit the ground running last season and were potential dark horses for the Premier League title at one point.

Tottenham then remained in the top-four picture right until late April, when they suffered a downturn in form and had to settle for fifth.

Despite failing to seal Champions League qualification, Postecoglou laid some strong foundations upon which he and his players are expected to build.

Spurs have looked bright in pre-season, with a number of young players staking claims to be in the first-team picture in 2024/25.

Now, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has told GiveMeSport that he expects one academy talent with a “huge future” to be in the fold.

Mikey Moore backed for Tottenham first-team role

The player in question is Mikey Moore, who has made a real name for himself at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 16-year-old has effectively outgrown the Under-18s setup already, with a staggering 16 goals and nine assists from just 14 U18 outings last term.

Moore has already featured competitive for Tottenham’s senior team, getting minutes in Spurs’ last two games of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Postecoglou included him in the contingent for the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, where he has featured in friendlies.

“Tottenham rate him so highly,” said Bridge. I think he is the one who is going to feature in the first-team.

“He is still so incredibly young, and they obviously have to take their time and be careful with him, but he made a couple of substitute appearances last season.

“He has played and trained with the first-team. He has gone away with the first-team for pre-season, so he has got a huge future, and him staying at Spurs will be a great bit of business for them.

“I fully expect him to be part of the first-team next season.”

Moore set to extend Tottenham stay as suitors circle

Moore has been so impressive that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Chelsea have been linked with the player.

However, TBR Football recently revealed that terms are now in place between Tottenham and Moore to extend his stay at N17.

Spurs are now just waiting on the winger to turn 17 years of age on 11 August for him to put pen to paper on his new deal.

And with Postecoglou taking Moore on Spurs’ pre-season tour, it shows that the pathway to the first-team is clear.
