Critical month for Swansea
Swansea City are stuck in something of a rut at the moment and their poor start to the season, which resulted in Francesco Guidolin’s departure, has not been altered by the arrival of Bob Bradley. The highly experienced American manager has secured just one victory since being appointed and defeat at White Hart Lane leaves The Swans rooted to the foot of the Premier League table. Although the opening goal may have arrived in controversial fashion, after Deli Alli won a penalty, Swansea never realistically looked as if they would be a genuine threat to the hosts and the eventual five-goal score line could have been much bigger.
In truth, Swansea’s season will not be dictated by how they perform in away trips against some of English football’s leading club sides. However, their next six matches, in which they face five of the bottom twelve teams (Sunderland, Middlesbrough, West Ham, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace) will certainly have a much more significant bearing on their battle against relegation. Bradley has already heralded December as being a ‘critical month’ for his side but his players will have to produce much-improved performances in the coming weeks if they are to avoid the relegation trap door.
