West Brom outclassed
West Brom have been in impressive form this season, securing a place in the top half of the table, but they were thoroughly outplayed at White Hart Lane by the hosts.
Tony Pulis set up his side to play a deep defensive line in an attempt to frustrate their opponents but as soon Harry Kane broke the deadlock in the twelfth minute the game was all but over. The Baggies were never able to recover from the early goal and they found themselves pinned back into their own half with minimal possession and no attacking threat (they did not muster a shot until the second half). Tottenham fullbacks, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose continuously forayed forward ensuring that the attacking outlets of Matt Phillips and Nacer Chadli were negated and The Baggies had no answer to the home side’s movement and creativity.
The result was a stark reminder that this West Brom team still requires considerable work if they are to establish themselves as a top-ten club and that Tony Pulis will need to dip into the transfer market to purchase some new recruits before the end of the month.
