Manchester City 3-1 Manchester United- November 2002
City fans look back fondly on this day, as cult hero Shaun Goater helped them on their way to a 3-1 win over United in the last Derby at Maine Road. The fact that a Gary Neville mishap led to his first goal was a sweet and added bonus for Citizens. Goater was 32 years old by the time this game came around, and it looked like he may have been on his way down the pecking order at City, who had spent a not insignificant £18 million on Jon Macken and Nicolas Anelka that summer. Anelka and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had exchanged goal in the early stages, but a Goater brace gave them a famous victory. United went on to win the title the following May, but City fans will always be satisfied that their last taste of Maine Road was a sour one.
