Leroy Sane

City’s attacking ranks are among – if not the – best in the Premier League, with Sergio Agüero, Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva making up a very exciting front four when all available. However, with Agüero’s well documented injury problems, Silva’s advancing years, and a lack of strong depth aside from those players – let’s face it, Wilfried Bony is absolutely not a Pep Guardiola forward – it might make sense for City to look towards an up-and-coming young forward to bolster their ranks.

Look no further than Leroy Sane. The German forward isn’t the complete player yet; that he could one day be, but the Schalke youngster is still very much an exciting prospect for big clubs to look at. Five goals and four assists in the Bundesliga so far this season hint at the strong potential Sane has, but it is arguably the vigour with which the 20-year old has taken on the mantle of Schalke’s key player since the departure of Julian Draxler which should impress Guardiola. Despite his age, Sane is very much a player who can be relied upon to deliver in pressured situations.

It’s also very easy to see Guardiola moulding him into a very adaptable tactical player going forward. Sane’s technical excellence could see him feature across the front four for Guardiola, as well as becoming a properly established German international after his first call-up in November 2015.
