Paul Pogba

Undoubtedly one of the finest young midfielders on the market at present, Paul Pogba would command an astronomical fee given his contractual situation at Italian giants Juventus – currently on a big money deal which runs to 2019, with an equally astronomical potential to become one of the game’s most memorable midfielders.

Manchester City though, certainly possess the riches under their Saudi owners to meet Juventus’ asking price, and doing so would be yet another statement of intent – following hot on the heels of being the club to entice Guardiola. From Pogba’s perspective, City can offer a lot more than Juventus in terms of prestige. For starters, Serie A is not what it once was while Juventus have sold many of their key players in recent seasons, such as Carlos Tevez, Arturo Vidal and, probably more understandably, Andrea Pirlo.

At 22, Pogba could easily be a fulcrum of the City squad for the best part of the next decade, or at least be sold on for a similarly high fee if he opts to leave, which makes his signature a surely tantalising prospect for Guardiola and the club’s hierarchy.
