‘Too good to be true’ – Arsenal fans react as club reportedly win race for Dayot Upamecano

Arsenal fans have been reacting as the club are reportedly close to the signing of Dayot Upamecano, with reports from Tuttosport in Italy claiming the Gunners have won the race for the RB Leipzig star.

Mikel Arteta has been courting the 21-year-old for a number of weeks now and appears to have finally moved closer to landing his man.

The report claims Arsenal have forced AC Milan to back out of the race. Furthermore, Leipzig chief, Julian Nagelsmann has apparently given the green light for Arsenal to make their move.

Upamecano’s future has been a hot topic of discussion in recent transfer discussions. The defender has a release clause of around £52m but recently it has been claimed Leipzig will accept less.

Indeed, Leipzig supremo Oliver Mintzlaff recently said that the defender would either have to sign a new deal or face being sold by the German outfit.

It appears, then, that the latter option is set to materialise. And on Twitter, Arsenal fans have been responding in their droves to the news about their latest potential signing.

Here, then, is a look at just what Gunners fans had to say. It’s safe to say that while he’s a welcome addition, Arsenal fans want to see ink on paper before getting too carried away!
