‘Too good for West Ham’, ‘soon be gone’: Some Hammers fans hail one player’s display last night

A number of West Ham United fans have praised Declan Rice for his display in Tuesday night’s Premier League defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers were hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 loss to Wolves last Saturday but only succeeded in losing by the same scoreline in North London following another poor display.

Tomas Soucek broke the deadlock with an own goal in the 64th minute following Giovani Lo Celso’s corner, before Harry Kane wrapped up all three points with his 18th of the season eight minutes from time.

David Moyes’ charges, who have now lost their last seven away games in the Premier League, are now deep in relegation trouble, level on points with 18th-placed Bournemouth, who will be in action on Wednesday evening.

Rice was one of the few West Ham players who performed admirably, doing his fair share of defending and holding his own in the final 10 minutes when Spurs turned the screw, as well as nearly providing a superb assist for Michail Antonio, who spurned his chance.
