Leeds United legend Tony Yeboah has shared his thoughts on how he feels the Whites will fare in the Premier League this season, as well as giving his verdict on Marcelo Bielsa, in conversation with the Daily Mail.
After 16 years outside of the top flight, Leeds are now back and gearing up for their first fixture of the campaign, against none other than reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield.
It’s been a tough road back for the Elland Road side, which even included some time in the third tier, while the last two seasons weren’t exactly all plain sailing either.

In 2018-19, Bielsa’s first season at the helm, Leeds were in pole position for automatic promotion for much of the campaign, only to fall out of contention late on and lose in the playoffs.
Last term, meanwhile, the global health crisis saw English football suspended, leading to an anxious wait regarding whether the campaign could even be completed.
In the end, both the Premier League and the Championship resumed behind closed doors, and Leeds finally got over the line, as did today’s opponents, who ended their 30-year title wait.
Yeboah is optimistic over his former side’s chances of doing well in the top flight and raved about the “fantastic” Bielsa, a manager who has worked wonders at Elland Road.
“Bielsa is a fantastic coach,” the former Ghana international told the Daily Mail. “He suits the club and I like the way he plays.
“With the support Leeds has, I don’t think we are going to have any problems at all.”
TBR View:
Out of all three promoted sides, Leeds are the ones being tipped to have the most success this season, which is little surprise considering the quality of manager at the helm and the superb signings brought in.
Of course, Liverpool away is probably the toughest fixture out there for any Premier League side, never mind one that has just been promoted, but if Leeds manage to do well and/or get something out of the game, it’ll be a huge boost for the club.
And even if they don’t, it won’t matter much over the course of a 38-game season, and anyway, being back in the same league as one of the best teams in world football shows how far Leeds have come from the days of losing to the likes of Cheltenham and Tranmere in the third tier.
