Tony Dorigo delivers verdict on Leeds draw against Brentford

Tony Dorigo took a dig at Brentford manager Thomas Frank following Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against them on Tuesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team earned a point away to Brentford in midweek in the Championship fixture and were on top for large spells of the contest at Griffin Park.

Said Benrahma opened the scoring for the hosts when he capitalised on a Kiko Casilla error, but Whites captain Liam Cooper equalised with his first goal of the season.

The Yorkshire club stay second in the league after earning a point and opponents Brentford are fourth, but third-placed Fulham will move into the automatic positions if they beat Millwall on Wednesday night.

Leeds went into Tuesday  under immense pressure after four losses in five games and that saw Brentford’s boss make some intriguing comments in his pre-match press conference.

“I am 100 per cent sure that they fear us going into this game but that is not to say that we are just going to win it,” Frank said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Ex-Leeds player Dorigo aimed a dig back at Brentford’s manager after the contest and believes they were in control.

“Fear? More like controlled dominance in Brentford’s own back yard. Very good performance from the boys last night, Kiko’s mishap apart. Responded well, a good building block for Bristol on Saturday. Another point added, 42 more available,” Dorigo wrote on his personal Twitter account.

TBR’s View:

Leeds may have only picked up a point on Tuesday night, but another defeat would have been a catastrophe and an encouraging display in the draw does give them a platform to try build on.

They certainly weren’t overawed by an exciting Brentford side and came out second best in their own backyard on the balance of play.

Bielsa’s team have a lot of work to do to try finish in the automatic spots with the likes of Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest all chasing them down.

But they have the quality within their team to beat anyone on the division on their day and will hope they are over their blip.
