West Ham legend, Tony Cottee, has said that Michail Antonio has become as important for the Hammers as Harry Kane is for Spurs.
Antonio has burst back onto the scene following injury and helped the Hammers into the European places. His goals and runs in behind have been crucial to David Moyes’ team. However, there is talk of the club looking to bring in another striker to support Antonio.

And Cottee, speaking to Talksport, says that is a sensible move given Antonio’s importance to the team.
“We started off talking about how important Jamie Vardy is to Leicester. Well, Michail Antonio is that for West Ham,” Cottee said.
“You can say the same for Harry Kane for Spurs. When you’ve got the top strikers who bang the goals in regularly – Antonio could have had four or five the other night. Listen if Michail gets injured then West Ham need a centre forward.”
Cottee, who scored just shy of 100 goals for the Hammers, knows a thing or two about being a top striker.

His comments on Antonio may well resonate with some Hammers fans, too. The former Nottingham Forest forward has become almost indispensable. Ten goals last term, plus five this, prove how vital he is to the West Ham cause.
TBR View: West Ham flying, time is now to back up Antonio
Surely West Ham won’t get to the end of the window and not bring a replacement for Haller in?
Cottee is right. If Antonio gets another knock then they are in big trouble. And at a time when a European spot is a very real possibility, surely the time is now more than ever to strengthen.
Of course, it needs to be the right deal but West Ham aren’t afraid of spending when they need to do so. There has to be someone out there for Moyes.
