Tony Cottee has claimed West Ham will have one “hell of a player” if new signing Jesse Lingard gets back to anywhere near his best form at the London Stadium.
The Hammers completed the signing of the Manchester United attacker on loan until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Lingard, 28, has left United on a temporary basis in search of first-team minutes, as he’s played just three games in all competitions this season.
Despite being frozen out of the squad, he’s someone that has played at the highest level with 33 goals and 20 assists in 210 United appearances.
He’s a versatile attacker that can play on either wing or in a more central attacking position behind the striker.
Cottee has given an excited response on his Twitter to Lingard joining on loan.
TBR’s View:
If Lingard does recapture some form, he’ll add something extra to David Moyes’ squad and help them in their push for a European finish this season.
But one concern for West Ham fans is that they are crying out for a recognised centre-forward.
Michail Antonio remains the only senior striker in the squad and another frontman should have been the priority this month, but there is still a brief amount of time left in the January window to complete business.
