Tony Cottee has claimed he would like West Ham to sign Brentford’s Ollie Watkins and QPR’s Eberechi Eze in the summer if his former club got their pick of players from the Championship.

The Hammers snapped up Jarrod Bowen from England’s second-tier division in January and the attacker scored his first goal in the weekend’s win over Southampton since his arrival from Hull City.

Watkins has scored 22 league goals this season for a Brentford side sat fifth in the Championship and are chasing promotion.

The 24-year-old striker is an English goal machine that looks destined to get his first chance in the Premier League at some stage in his career and is clinical around the penalty area.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Eze is an English attacking midfielder that is playing out of his skin for mid-table QPR.

He’s remarkably already scored 11 goals and supplied seven assists so far this campaign in the league.

Ex-Hammers forward Cottee has picked out the two rising stars as real talents he would like at the London Stadium.

“My first one has already signed, Jarrod Bowen, Ollie Watkins from Brentford and Eze from QPR, they’re my three,” Cottee responded on Twitter when asked what players from the Championship he would like West Ham to sign in the summer.

TBR’s View:

West Ham really could do with some extra striker options beyond Sebastien Haller going into next season and will be able to attack decent players, as long as they avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Watkins is an excellent finisher that deserves his crack next year in the big time and has pace that usually troubles defenders.

The Brentford attacker is only a hypothetical signing for the Hammers, but QPR’s Eze has been linked with West Ham in the past.

The Sun reported back in November that West Ham were one of several top-flight clubs monitoring the £20million-rated playmaker.
