Tony Cottee has reacted positively on Twitter to reports that West Ham are closing in on a deal for FC Basel striker Albian Ajeti.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers are on the verge of wrapping up an £8million deal for him.
It is understood that the attacker is set to be on a £50,000-a-week contract if he joins Manuel Pellegrini’s team before Thursday’s deadline.
Ajeti has established himself as a key performer in the Swiss top-flight in recent seasons and could now be set for a state of Premier League action.
The centre-forward managed 21 goals across all competitions last season, while he’s kicked off the new campaign with two in his opening three matches.
Ex-West Ham player and now pundit Cottee is impressed by the 22-year-old’s goalscoring ability, as the Hammers edge closer towards a deal for him.
“Let’s see [if West Ham sign Ajeti]! This young fella certainly knows where the goal is,” Cottee wrote on his personal Twitter account.

TBR’s View:
Ajeti will be making a step up if he moves to the Premier League, but he’s got great potential and is another eye-catching addition for Pellegrini this summer.
The Switzerland international is strong in the air, makes great movements in behind defenders, and can score a variety of goals.
It looks like he will be another strong option in attack alongside Sebastien Haller and the Hammers have done well to cope with the exit of Marko Arnautovic.
Cottee has spoken highly of Ajeti ahead of his potential switch to England and his finishing is a main strength.
