Tony Cascarino thinks Spurs star is seriously questioning his future at N17

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane could be questioning his future at Spurs and contemplating a move away, according to Tony Cascarino.

The 27-year-old has long been Tottenham’s standout player, developing into one of the best strikers in the world at N17.

However, Kane has yet to lift a major trophy with Spurs, despite coming close in the Premier League and Champions League.

This term, Spurs remain firmly in contention for the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Tottenham looked like title contenders at one point, but a downturn in form has seen them fall 14 points behind current leaders Manchester City.

Cascarino has told talkSPORT that Kane is now at a crossroads in his career where he must decide whether to stick or twist.

“He’s 28 in July and Beckham went to Real Madrid at 28,” said Cascarino. “I think he’s going to look at his team.

“What has he won? The answer is nothing. He’s won lots of accolades for his individual achievements.

“The bottom line for Harry is does he want to be Tottenham’s greatest player ever? Is that his main goal? I don’t think so.

“I think he’s far more ambitious than that. Don’t think winning the League Cup is going to keep Harry Kane. I think it’s challenging for the biggest honours in the world.

“Does he see that at Tottenham? I would say, at a guess, probably not.”

The subject of Kane’s future crops up all the time and, frustrating as it may be to hear and read for Spurs fans, it’s not going to go away while Tottenham remain out of reach of the Premier League and Champions League.

Admittedly, Spurs remain in contention for three trophies this season, and are within a game of winning the League Cup, so if Jose Mourinho can succeed in one or more of those competitions, then Kane might feel more inclined to remain.

One thing’s almost certain though – Tottenham cannot afford another trophyless season if they want Kane to stay put.
