Tony Cascarino feels that Jordan Pickford’s poor form has gone under the radar of late and expects the England goalkeeper to leave Goodison Park to rediscover his form.
The £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) star could have done better with Pascal Gross’s opening goal in Brighton’s 3-2 win over Everton on Saturday and Cascarino did not hold back in his criticism of the star in the Times.
He said: “Yet another entry in the catalogue of Jordan Pickford errors shows why the Everton keeper’s days as England’s number 1 are numbered… beaten easily by a set piece, (which) went almost straight at him. His poor form has slipped under the radar.
“Fraser Forster and Joe Hart lost form and moved on in past seasons and I think Pickford, the way he is going, will follow suit and leave Goodison Park. He is a rash goalkeeper at the best of times and makes far too many mistakes to continue to be Gareth Southgate’s first choice for the national team with a major tournament coming up next year.”

TBR’s View – Cascarino is being rash to question Pickford’s Everton future and England spot
Dropping Pickford to give him a wake-up call might be a good idea, but selling him would be too far? Would the England goalkeeper want to make such a big career move ahead of the European championship?
It feels a bit rash. And who would take his place between the sticks for England? Dean Henderson, Nick Pope and Tom Heaton would be obvious contenders but would all represent a risk given their international inexperience and the fact they do not offer Pickford’s distribution quality.
