Tony Cascarino has been effusive in his praise for RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland following his links with a move to Liverpool in the Daily Star.
Haaland failed to score against the Reds last night but Cascarino told the Times: “For someone 6ft 4in Haaland is remarkably quick. His driving runs take him between defender. His athleticism is also evident when the opposition are in possession because he plays a full part in Salzburg’s high-intensity pressure.
“Despite things not quite going his way last night he still managed to have three efforts on goal, getting himself into promising positions on two occasions. He reminds me of Mohamed Salah in that even when he misses with a few attempts you know he will continue to get chances. He is not fazed by missing opportunities.”
TBR’s View – On last night’s evidence, Liverpool don’t need Haaland at all
As much as Liverpool fans might like to beat bitter rivals Manchester United to the striker, they don’t really need him.
Divock Origi is a cult figure and a very capable backup striker, while Rhian Brewster remains in reserve with a big reputation.
Haaland flattered to deceive last night and is unlikely to want to sign for a side where he’d be on the bench most weeks anyway.
