Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino was blown away by Liverpool frontman Roberto’s Firmino’s goal which earned a 1-0 win at Tottenham on Saturday.
In the Times, Cascarino raved over Firmino, comparing him to English football legend Paul Gascoigne as Liverpool made it 38 Premier League games unbeaten.
He said: “Most players would have taken the ball with their right foot and ended up in a tight situation with the defender. But the way Firmino let the ball run across him in order to make space for himself was genius. It is such a tricky skill, for which you need vision and awareness.
“Paul Gascoigne used to do it and few players do it now as well as Firmino. He always knows what is around him, all over the pitch. He is the one of Liverpool’s front three who can do things that Mo Salah and Sadio Mané cannot. He is a thinking player who always seems to know what is the best option to take. He makes Liverpool tick.”

TBR’s View – Just like Liverpool, Firmino makes tricky tasks look easy
Firmino made a hard finish look very easy and Liverpool are making tricky matches look straightforward this season.
A trip to a Jose Mourinho side was a potential banana skin but Liverpool utterly dominated the first half and were good value for Firmino’s goal.
Firmino doesn’t grab the headlines like Mane or Salah, but he is a tireless striker with a handy knack of popping up when needed, netting the winner in the Club World Cup semi-final and final last month.
