Tony Cascarino has backed Curtis Jones to be the breakthrough star for Liverpool this season, telling The Times that there is something special about the 20-year-old.
Jones was arguably an unfortunate beneficiary of the Reds’ injury problems last season.

The academy graduate made 24 appearances in the Premier League. In all competitions, he played 34 times for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Of course, Liverpool will be hoping a lot more luck with injuries during the coming campaign.

But Cascarino clearly believes that Jones could still go on and enjoy a fantastic year as he picked him out to be their breakthrough star.
“Curtis Jones was one of Liverpool’s best players until Christmas,” he told The Times. “There’s something special about him.”

Jones has certainly shown glimpses of his quality. There were a number of times when he was the Reds’ most impressive player.
Obviously, it was not the best campaign for Liverpool. But Jones’s form still stood out amongst a number of star players at times.
So this year could be a significant one for the youngster. He could perform in a number of roles in that midfield.
And with Liverpool battling on several fronts once again, there will certainly be opportunities for Jones to prove just how important he is going to be for years to come.
