Tony Cascarino predicts Aston Villa breakout star for new season
Tony Cascarino is predicting Matty Cash to be the breakout star at Aston Villa in the new 2021/22 season.
Brentford and Arsenal kickstart the Premier League campaign on Friday night before Villa begin their season on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Watford.
The Midlands club enter the new season without talisman Jack Grealish after his transfer to Manchester City. However, their own business in the market means they are an extremely exciting proposition.
Danny Ings, Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey, Ashley Young and Axel Tuanzebe (loan) are the new faces to strengthen Dean Smith’s squad.
Cascarino has chosen right-back Cash as the Villa player to be his club’s breakout star.
In fairness, the defender has been an important player in the starting XI during the last year. He did miss 10 league games in total though because of some injuries, so perhaps Cascarino reckons he’ll go to dizzier heights this season.
“Matty Cash. The 24-year-old full back is blisteringly quick but has been hindered by injuries so far,” Cascarino said.
Matty Cash will get even better at Aston Villa
For Villa fans, they might not consider Cash in the category of breakout star. He was impressive his debut season with them last year after joining for £16million from Nottingham Forest.
However, perhaps his name can be put up in lights far more this season across the division.
He would surely love to get his name in the conversation when talking about all the top-class English right-backs.
Also, the addition of versatile full-back Ashley Young should help him raise his game.
