Tony Cascarino has praised Everton midfield trio Theo Walcott, Tom Davies and Alex Iwobi after the 2-0 victory over West Ham at Goodison Park on Saturday.
He raved: “For the first time this season, Marco Silva’s Everton looked to be worth the £450 million owner Farhad Moshiri has spent to assemble the squad. These are the kind of committed performances Silva needs from his players every week.”
“Silva’s side were hell-bent on playing high-intensity, tenacious football against West Ham. Tom Davies excelled in midfield. Theo Walcott had his best game in an Everton shirt. Alex Iwobi did not stop running.”
TBR’s View – Everton have to build on this display and produce greater consistency
Everton were utterly dominant on Saturday and Iwobi’s introduction into the number ten role transformed their midfield as well as inspiring improvement from Gylfi Sigurdsson, who had a point to prove when he came on.
The challenge now is to produce performances like that on a consistent basis, as well as away from home. That’s what sides who finish in the top six are capable of doing.
