Tony Cascarino praises Jamie Vardy after goalscoring performance against Burnley

Tony Cascarino has backed Leicester striker Jamie Vardy to reach 100 Premier League goals before the end of the current season, as per the Times.

There are just 28 players in the Premier League history books for hitting that total, but Cascarino feels Vardy can do that before the end of the campaign on his current form.

He said: “Jamie Vardy is a more complete player than four seasons ago when he won the Premier League. He is as lethal as ever — finding the net six times in nine games — but it is the way he is scoring that highlights his improvement.

“Just one of those goals has come from Vardy’s favoured right boot. He has scored three with his left and two with his head. Vardy’s goal against Burnley took his all-time Premier League tally to 86. In this form, he will reach 100 this season.”

TBR’s View – 14 goals in 29 matches should not be beyond Vardy

The way Leicester are playing and the form Vardy is on should mean that a shade under a goal every other game should be an achievable target between now and the end of the season, provided he can stay fit.

Reaching that milestone and writing his name into Premier League history would underline how consistent and threatening Vardy has been since that title-winning season.

He is the perfect frontman for this Leicester side, who don’t create hatfuls of chances, but press relentlessly and need someone to be clinical in front of goal.
