Adama Traore put reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to the sword yesterday with what was likely his best performance in a Wolves shirt.
Traore impressed Tony Cascarino with the way he kept England superstar Raheem Sterling quiet at the Etihad Stadium before bursting forward to clinch an all-important double.
In the Times, Cascarino said: “The two goals from Traore will take most of the attention but the way that he handled Raheem Sterling deserves praise. Traore is so big, quick and strong and he wouldn’t let Sterling past him.
“Teams will look to that as a blueprint for stopping Sterling and City. It is even more effective when City are without Kevin de Bruyne because so much more of the creative onus is on Sterling.”

TBR’s View – Traore has the ability to make a splash in the Premier League with a consistent position and end-product
Traore’s speed, power and dribbling ability means he has the raw materials to be a success in the Premier League and it was no surprise he was snapped up from Middlesbrough in 2018 after the season he had there under Tony Pulis.
It was perhaps a shock that Wolves bought him, because the 3-5-2 Nuno Santo settled on in the top flight didn’t contain an obvious role for him in the absence of wingers.
He has played wing back and striker, neither of which are a natural fit, but with consistent end product, he can be a genuine quality option in either role and he showed that yesterday.
