Tony Cascarino says that Everton have a communication issue after they slipped to a second straight Premier League defeat against Sheffield United on Saturday.
As per the Times, Cascarino was struck by how little Everton’s stars talked to each other during that 2-0 reverse at Goodison Park and says something has to change.
He said: “One of the earliest lessons I learnt was the importance of talking. Some players are natural chatterboxes, while others can be more quiet but you still need a core group who can communicate.
“What struck me watching Everton in their defeat by Sheffield United was how none of their players spoke to each other. Language should not be an issue. It is more than a question of leadership. Everton’s stars need to start talking.”
TBR’s View – Everton slipping back into last season’s habits
Near the beginning of last season, there were doubts over Marco Silva’s ability to organise a defence and this weekend’s loss, combined with the 3-1 at Bournemouth last week, have raised those questions again.
His job shouldn’t be under threat just yet – Everton had such a good end to last season and made promising strides in the transfer window too.
But for a side who want to break into the top six, and have a genuine opportunity this season, Everton are defending too poorly and their standards have not been raised enough so far.
