Tony Cascarino has claimed that Jose Mourinho’s comments about injured Tottenham star Heung-Min Son are “ridiculous”,
Spurs confirmed on Tuesday (official website) that Son was set to undergo surgery this week on a fractured arm and that he’s expected to be missing for a number of weeks.
The North London club didn’t give a timescale on a potential return date, but the attacker’s absence comes as another considerable blow as he joins teammate Harry Kane on the sidelines.
Son has 16 goals in 32 games across all competition this campaign and was helping to fill the striker void so well before his injury setback.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho was negative in his comments about the 27-year-old, as he admitted he isn’t certain he will play again this season.
“I don’t. No I don’t,” Mourinho responded when asked if he will be counting on Son again this season, as quoted by Football.London.
“If he plays one or two games it’s because he’s [his press officer] is very optimistic. I hope he’s right. I hope he’s right, but in my mind no. In my mind I’m not thinking about that.”
Cascarino is adamant that Son won’t have a long-term problem and he expects him to be playing with a protective arm cast.
“To be out from now until the end of the season I can’t see that. You can have protection after the healing process, you can certainly wear a protector over your arm and you’ll be okay to play I’m sure,” Son told talkSPORT.
“It’s a bad situation at present, but I don’t see Heung-Min Son not playing before the end of the season I just think that’s being ridiculous.”

TBR’S View:
It remains to be seen for how long Son will have to watch from the stands, but Spurs fans will be desperate that it’s not a long-term absence.
With Kane already missing, Son dropping out of the side too means there could be a lack of goals in the team and it’s up to others to really step up during some massive fixture just around the corner.
Dele Alli needs to try discover some goalscoring form like he can, while wingers such as Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela have extra pressure heaped on to them too.
